Business Card Design It might be the most compact marketing tool that you have. But it's one of the most powerful. A well thought out and designed business card allows you to specialise in and attract the sort of business you want.

The basics of business card design are straight forward. Make sure that your contact details (including all phone numbers, fax, email and website), names and job titles, plus the company logo are correct. The rest is up to you, you may wish to include business address, A.B.N number, etc. It really depends on the objective and the image that you wish to portray to potential customers.

It's important that you communicate clearly with us conveying your vision and giving the designer lot's of information.

Match the style of your card to the essence of your company. (whether your quirky, conservative, dynamic or artistic).

Tag lines are great. Here are some examples:
"Specialising in Software Development"
"Health and Fitness Consultants"
"Home Loans Made Easy"

Don't use to many colours, or think that your business card needs to be trendy or gimmicky to attract attention. Some people spend upto $10 per business card, but get a great return and generally carry a second more economical business card for tyre kickers.

The quality of the paper that you use will contribute to the end print price. A paper stock of 250-350gsm will look and feel good, and stand the test of time.

Also the way that the business card is finished can make the world of difference. For example: Gloss, Matt, Embossed logo, etc.

When you hand over a business card great business relationships have a foundation from which to develop.

Don't be reluctant to hand out your business cards. In Asia they are used as name cards, a way for potential clients and friends to remember you. It's a way of offering your products or services without seeming to pushy (which is an Australian cultural no, no).

Here at Design Max we hand our business cards out to all associates by saying, "here's my card if ever I can help you". The emphasis is instantly on how you can be of service.

If you accept a business card from a person of Asian persuasion, always accept it with 2 hands.
